Gun sales in Colorado spiked 41 percent since the movie theater shooting in Aurora, according to the Colorado Bureau of investigation. KUSA reports.
“We called six gun shops all over the metro area including this one and they all told us sales are up, classes are full, and more customers are coming through these doors, asking questions.”
Background checks were approved for more than 2,800 gun buyers between Friday and Sunday in Colorado. But the Denver Post reports, the increase isn’t unusual after a mass shooting.
“After a gunman in Tucson killed six people and injured others, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, in 2010, background checks in Arizona jumped 60 percent over the same date one year earlier, according to the FBI.”
