24 Insurgents Killed in Operations in Afghanistan

Afghan police and army, backed by the NATO-led coalition troops, have killed two dozen Taliban insurgents within the past 24 hours in different provinces, the country's Interior Ministry said Thursday morning.
"During the past 24 hours, Afghan National Police (ANP), Afghan National Army, Afghan intelligence agency and coalition forces launched 16 joint clearance operations in Laghman, Kunduz, Baghlan, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Wardak, Logar, Ghazni, Khost and Paktika provinces, killing 24 Taliban insurgents," the ministry said in a statement.
Two more insurgents were wounded and three others detained by the joint forces, the statement added.
They also found and seized weapons, the statement said, without mentioning if there were any casualties on the side of security forces.
The Taliban insurgents, who have been waging an insurgency of more than one decade, have yet to make comments.
