US should send carrier strike group to Australia: CSIS

A report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies based in Georgetown commissioned by the Pentagon suggests the US Navy should deploy a carrier strike group to Australia to counter the growing influence of China in the region, according to Duowei News, a website operated by overseas Chinese.
To counter the Anti-Access and Area Denial strategy of China's People's Liberation Army in the Asia-Pacific region, the report suggests a carrier task force should be stationed at HMAS Stirling naval base at Garden Island, Western Australia. The group would include a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, a carrier air wing, one or two guided-missile cruisers, up to three destroyers and two nuclear-powered attack submarines.
