Destroyer Vice Admiral Kulakov Escorts Fourth Convoys
Northern Fleet (NF) destroyer Vice Admiral Kulakov started escorting the fourth commercial convoy through the Gulf of Aden.

The convoy was formed in western part of the Arabian Sea. It includes 2 Liberian-flagged oil tankers with Russian crews on board, and a Singapore-flagged merchant vessel.

The Russian destroyer will escort the convoy through the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden to the assigned point in the Red Sea along the 1,000-mile long route.

Vice Admiral Kulakov left the NF main base Severomorsk on Apr 6. Throughout the deployment, the ship has covered over 12,000 nautical miles and escorted 8 civilian ships flying flags of Marshall Islands, Malta, Panama, and Turkey.

Late in Apr 2012, NF destroyer Vice Admiral Kulakov called at port Souda, Greece. Officers and marines had a unique opportunity to visit the NATO's international naval operations training center. NF servicemen exchanged anti-piracy experience with their foreign colleagues and held a number of practical drills.

As is planned, crew of Vice Admiral Kulakov on June 23 will begin escorting of the 5-th convoy to be formed in the Red Sea.
