Taiwan's East China Sea peace deal workable: naval official

President Ma Ying-jeou's proposed initiative to deal with the East China Sea disputes is workable, but Taiwan should be careful about its connection with China on the issue, former naval officials said Saturday.
Lan Ning-li, a retired vice admiral, said in a written statement published at the launch of a book on maritime law that the more Taiwan contributes to regional peace, the less likely it is to be marginalized in an emergency situation.
